The KODEX-EPD imaging and mapping system is a novel, EP catheter-based, dielectric imaging modality designed to guide atrial fibrillation and other ablation procedures without coming into contact with anatomy.
The system uses dielectric sensing to create three-dimensional, high definition (3D-HD) images of a patient’s cardiac structures in real time. It aims to help electrophysiologists navigate and treat the heart by generating an accurate 3D image that is continuously updated even during patient movement. This new imaging guidance has the potential to reduce procedure time and complexity for ablation procedures.
A unique feature of the system is the panoramic view (PANO) which visualizes a flattened 3D view of the entire heart chamber to simplify navigation and ablation procedures. With this feature, the operator can see real anatomical details, such as the Fossa Ovalis, Pulmonary Veins and Left Atrial Appendage. Details are also available for other atypical anatomies, such as the Eustachian Ridge and Pouch, to support confident planning of the procedure. The KODEX-EPD system can produce images from any validated, off-the-shelf catheter, without ionizing radiation and without the need to touch the endocardium.
